SITE Executive Director Rita Katz was recently quoted in Washington Post on the Islamic State’s (IS) Crocus City Hall attack, which the US has attributed specifically to the group’s Khorasan Province (ISKP).
On how such attacks bolster ISIS’ image to supporters: “For ISIS, these operations are its way of sending a message to the world that it remains a relevant, deadly threat."
Regarding ISKP’s capacity: “Today [ISKP] is a deadly and capable ‘province’ whose tentacles reach across Central Asia, including in regions of former Soviet states."
