Palestinian Jihadi Group Turns to Facebook to Fundraise for Military Equipment to Kill Israelis
The Palestinian jihadi group the Army of the Ummah (Jeish al-Ummah) is using a Facebook account to ask for financial donations for weapons.
The leader of the group, Abu Hafs al-Maqdisi, posted a message asking for donations to purchase missiles, rockets, and other weapons to use against Israelis, and detailed the prices for the items needed.
In his request for donations, Maqdisi wrote:
“Every Muslim man and woman can have a role in the war against the monster entity, the so-called State of Israel, and that is through contributing to pay the price for weapons or participating in the purchasing of these weapons.”
In detailing the amount needed to purchase some of the items, Maqdisi indicated that a Katyusha rocket costs $1,000, a Grad rocket is $2,500, and a Dragunov sniper rifle is $7,000.
The Facebook account, which was created on August 26, 2013, has long reported on the attacks by the Army of the Ummah on Israelis, taking credit for strikes and issuing threats, and even posting videos showing the assembly and handling of rockets. For example, On July 9, 2014, the page claimed that the group fired three rockets at Eshkol, Israel, and later provided videos of the attack.

Praise be to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions. And thereafter:
He who equips a fighter with his money in the cause of Allah will have the same reward as he who has gone out for the invasion. This is indicated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, who narrated: The Prophet, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, said: “He who equips a fighter in the cause of Allah has invaded.”
