An al-Qaeda explosives expert who was killed in the Korengal valley of Kunar province in Afghanistan is a jihadist forum member who frequently participated in online military seminars and supplied explosives manuals.

Abu Hamdan al-Salafi, a member of the jihadist Internet community and several password-word protected jihadist forums who frequently posts in military preparation, CBRN, and conventional weapons discussions, recently posted information about improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to the password-protected jihadist forum, Mohajrron.  His writing provides definitions, types, and technical requirements of these explosives charges, as well as instructions for their manufacture and suggestions for their use.

Jihadist Forum Discussion of Palestinian-Manufactured Incendiary Devices, and Placing Explosive Substances Directly in the Target

Abu Hamdan al-Salafi, a frequent poster in the military sections of jihadist forums, usually interested in explosive substances and their construction, recently initiated a discussion on al-Nusra, a password-protected network affiliated with Asbat al-Ansar in southern Lebanon, regarding an incendiary device used by Palestinian terrorist groups.

Manual for Producing the Explosive Trinitronphenol (TNP) AKA Picric Acid


A manual providing instructions for the trinitronphenol (TNP) explosive, which is also known as picric acid, was distributed by an active member of the jihadist Internet community, Abu Hamdan al-Salafi, during discussion of the Astrolite liquid explosive on the password-protected jihadist forum, al-Firdaws.
