Shi’ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr issued a statement to a website of which he is affiliated, commenting on the bombing today, Wednesday, June 13, 2007, of the Al-Askariya Shrine, or Golden Mosque, a revered Shi’ite shrine in Samarra, Iraq, which destroyed two of its minarets.

A Statement from Shi’ite Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr Regarding the Wall to be Constructed Around al-Azamiyah, Calls for Protest

A website affiliated with Muqtada al-Sadr published a statement from the Shi’ite cleric yesterday, Wednesday, April 25, 2007, regarding the wall to be constructed around the city of al-Azamaiyah by the U.S. and Iraqi military.  He observes this move and the intention to build barriers in other areas to be an indication of the “occupier’s” cunning and their goal to isolate the Iraqi people, enforcing sectarianism.
