Iraqi Insurgent Factions Launch Military Campaigns

 

Two insurgent factions in Iraq, al-Rashideen Army and the Shield of Islam Brigades, each announced new campaigns aimed at enemy forces, and provided videos showing their attacks within these campaigns.

Al-Rashideen Army Claims Responsibility for Bombings Targeting American Vehicles in Balad, al-Ramadi, and al-Latifiya

The al-Rashideen Army [Jeish al-Rashideen] in Iraq issued three communiqués today, May 22, 2006, claiming responsibility for detonating improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on an American Humvee in Balad on Friday, May 19, and another Humvee in the Temim section of al-Ramadi the previous day, Thursday, killing those soldiers inside both vehicles.

The al-Rashideen Army [Jeish al-Rashideen] in Iraq issued a statement today, May 19, 2006, announcing that the Muslim bin Aqeel Brigades [Kata’ab al-mulims bin Aqee] of south Iraq, in al-Basra, has joined the group “as a sign of more unity,” in addition to four communiqués in which they claim responsibility for detonating improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on American vehicles on the roads of Baquba-Baghdad and Baghdad – al-Hilla, and firing mortar shells and rockets at American bases and patrol in Baquba and al-Yusefiya.
