SITE Reissuing 2016 Report on “Shadow Brokers” in Wake of Widespread Cyber-Attacks

In wake of today’s wave of widespread cyber-attacks across dozens of countries, the SITE Intelligence Group is reissuing a 2016 report on “The Shadow Brokers,” a hacking group cited by media outlets and cyber security experts as responsible for leaking the ransomware driving the attacks.

The report, issued on August 15, 2016 by SITE’s Dark Web and Cyber Security service, reported that The Shadow Brokers had put “cyber weapons” allegedly stolen from the National Security Agency (NSA) for sale in a bitcoin auction.
