An Islamic State (IS) supporter mourned a slain Senegalese fighter and his brothers, and remarked that West Africa is witnessing a "major Islamic awakening".
In a series of postings on the Deep Web pro-IS forum Shumukh al-Islam on October 16, 2018, the jihadist "Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Rahman" posted a photo of "Abu Hatim al-Seneghali" and eight other armed men and asked that God accept Abu Hatim and two of his brothers, and release other Senegalese fighters from prisons in Sirte, Libya. He remarked: "Africa is now witnessing a major Islamic awakening, especially in Guinea, Senegal, Niger, and the Gambia".
The photo posted on the forum is one of six that a Twitter user named "Abu Hatim al-Seneghali" had tweeted on December 3, 2015. Those photos are the very last tweet made by the user.
Following is a translation of the posts:
The brother Abu Hatim al-Seneghali
--------
May Allah accept the beloved brother Abu Hatim al-Seneghali and his brothers, brother Ali al-Seneghali and brother Hassan al-Seneghali, and may Allah release the brothers from the prisons of Sirte, brother Ibrahima Bah and brother Ibrahim al-Seneghali, and all the brothers. O Allah, Amen.
