Syrian opposition groups expressed condemnation after the Islamic State’s (IS) November 13, 2015 Paris attacks, and called for international focus on the Syrian regime and IS as the prime sources of international terror.

In a joint statement released on November 14, 2015 on Twitter and Telegram, 48 rebel groups denounced the terror attacks carried out on innocent civilians. The statement argued that the same “criminal attacks” have been ongoing in Syria for years, and are result of the cooperation between the Syrian regime and IS.

The groups further expressed that they will continue to fight against terrorism, “which is represented by the Assad regime and its puppet Da’ish [IS],” and asserted that the two entities pose a threat on the entire world. The statement read:

We call on the International community to seriously reconsider its way of dealing with the Syrian case, and to head towards a root solution that will target the real source of the crisis and terror.

Following are the translation and a copy of the statement:

“A Statement about the recent attacks in France”

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

We received, with a great shock and condemnation, the news of the terrorist attacks that were executed against the safe civilians in Paris city, in which dozens of innocents were killed and wounded, while the details of association for this crime have not been revealed yet.

The factions of the revolutionaries in Syria are strongly condemning these criminal attacks that oppose the heavenly laws and the human values. And they consider this terror to be no different than the terror the Syrian people have been suffering from every day for the past five years, and that both of them are result of one source – the Assad regime and its arm “Da’ish” [Islamic State].

This regime, since more than two years has been threatening to export the terror to Europe, and announced it on the media through a speech delivered by its Foreign Minister and its Mufti, whose symbiotic relation and even membership with Da’ish was proven.

While we condemn this criminal action, we assert our continuation in fighting terrorism in the region which is represented by the Assad regime and its puppet Da’ish.

And finally, we call on the International community to seriously reconsider its way of dealing with the Syrian case, and to head towards a root solution that will target the real source of the crisis and terror. For the real damaged party, due to the continuation of the Assad regime and its terrorist organization, is the entire world and not the Syrian people only.
