Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released the second episode in its "Demolishing of the Espionage" series, exploring in it the recruitment of spies through blackmail and intimidation, and featuring an alleged audio conversation between a U.S. intelligence agent and a recruit.


Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) released an audio speech from a group official, Abu Obeida Yusuf al-’Annabi, discussing Algeria from the perspective of it having an ongoing "identity crisis" since the War of Independence with France and through and beyond the Civil War in the 1990s, and inciting the people to revolt and demand Shariah-based governance.
